What is child’s race if one parent is white and one is Asian?

That kind of surgery is very common in Asia and they are not trying to look white either.

Keep telling yourself that.

Koreans in Korea will consider her white. She was born and raised in the US. She’s culturally White.

Is this Korea? No.

In the US, people self identify. She considers herself Asian American.

. Huh? So if a white couple adopt a black kid then would u even ask that question?

Because OP started the stupidity, and here we gladly keep it alive.

My adopted Asian daughter is often perceived as being Latina.

One time, I brought my adopted Asian daughter to a Latina girls' science event, because it just sounded really cool, and she was able to participate just like everybody else, because they thought she was HIspanic.

As opposed to skin color-obsessed Anglos, we Hispanics focus on the "content of your character" and all that soft stuff.

GTFOH.

Love,

Black Puertorriquena with “pelo malo” who has met with more discrimination from fellow Latinos than from anyone else

Funny, the only times my Hispanics kids and their friends have been discriminated in school it's always the same black Puertorriquena nurse who sees Hispanics as whites and insults them as "slave-owners."

El problema no es el pelo, es lo que hay debajo.

I know English is your second language, but the term is “discriminated against.” Not trying to be a jerk. Just want to help.

Thank you

Right, you’re telling Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, etc that they are all trying to look white. The entire world does not revolve around the USA, moron.

How do you know they had surgery and didn't just "grow" into those features?

You sound awfully mad. Did you get some skin bleach in your newly-enlarged eyes?

And those cultures consider themselves superior to the Americans anyway. They are not trying nor care about American culture wars.

Are you Asian? I'm thinking not because if you did, you would know that half the East Asian population are born with "double eyelid". The other half who don't have it don't get it to look more "white". Just from experience, my one sister has natural double eyelid; the other doesn't, and the one who doesn't had surgery done to make her eyes look more like our sisters'. I know another east Asian woman who had the surgery done to make her eyes look more like both her sisters' double lidded eyes.

So, no, most of these women aren't getting it done to look more "white". That's like saying white women get tanned to look more "black" or "hispanic".

OK, that settles that! There is no well-documented and long-entrenched anti-black racism among Latinos. It is all anti-white racism because...you claim to know a school nurse. Good anecdote.

No, the point is that Hispanics never had that skin color obsession that you Anglos had.

We have other problems, but not that one -- which explains why most Hispanics are mixed race.

Now, if you want to keep promoting old stereotypes and bs, admit at least that you see yourself as black first and Latina second if at all. When was the last time you read an adult book in Spanish by a Hispanic writer?

You're another race-obsessed anglo.

This. American cultural hegemony is long past. The rest of the world doesn’t want to look like big fat Americans.

Unfortunately, in the US, you are categorized based on your skin color or features, so if you look more Asian, you will not be considered "white", except as someone stated, it's convenient for white people to consider the half Asian as white.
