It certainly reads as though the children comported themselves with political acumen beyond their years. They deserve congratulations, sympathy, and a better deal than they will be getting. For all that they got an audience with other Councilmembers and the event made the papers it's not likely to make any difference. Rhee (with Fenty's support) has faced off against more powerful and formidable foes than these bright young middle-schoolers. No doubt Gray et al were happy to make political hay against Fenty over this issue, but they don't have any power to reverse Rhee's decision, and Fenty won't undermine her by heeding any criticism or suggestions.

It's a shame.
