Back when it first opened and people liked indoor malls but that was literally 40+ years ago. |
cleveland park, true Capitol Hill, Kent, Palisades, Colonial Village, parts of Shepard Park and Crestview. New money-the Wharf. |
The problem with the bars are the drunk people who go there and wake up residents at 3AM with fights, screams ("Love you, buddy!", "where did you park your f... car, idiot!?"), and vandalism. |

I agree. Lots of Chinese money, because they do not get penalized if they buy foreign real estate. |
Same! I rented in G'town 1992-1995 - what a blast. |
Also Spring Valley and Massachusetts Heights. Anything off of Foxhall. |
It wasn't 40 years ago. It was nice into the early 1990s. |
The street car will have dedicated lanes on K Street through downtown, IF that part is ever built. |
I live in Dupont and almost the only reason I go to GT is for the apple store, and sometimes to buy kids clothes. And I don't enjoy the commercial streets at all. to narrow, no where to ride or park my bike, and too many big bland brands hocking their generic looking clothes. It is not cool, but really no where in DC is. |
Am I wrong to say this doesn't bother me? Living in a luxury condo is a dream and if 20% of the flats are empty even though they've already been purchased that does two things for me - a) Keeps my property values high, and b)Keeps my hallways and amenities quiet. Meanwhile go in a luxury apartment building and have chess pieces thrown off the roof by college students with parents paying the rental bills and the pool constantly full because they want to drink and party. World of a difference. |
30 years ago. |
| Was just there tonight and it was completely hopping, totally busy. There are great light displays everywhere and more coming. Streets were packed. Perhaps few of you have been there recently? |
Even if this is true and you’re not trolling—it was tourists who don’t know any better |
Yes, because we, the residents, drive to VA malls to buy stuff.
