This speaks loudly just how insane their parents really are.
Insane? I don't think their shrinks would use that word.
Here's the deal. There is a peculiar fixation at St Albans with lacrosse for many reasons.
You get the old guard alums who are board members and major donors who remember the days when St Albans was a powerhouse in the helmet sports. The good old days...
You have these now balding and paunchy dads who played lacrosse in college, the days when any member of a boarding school's varsity could get "recruited" simply by having one's high school coach call over to his buddies coaching in college, who want nothing more than to relive their glory days through their sons.
You have the so-called Washington cave dwellers who over the course of just a generation or two are seeing their fortunes fading and status slipping. Lacrosse is a vestige of the past harking back to the WASPy days of yore. They clutch to it tightly.
You have a lot of St Albans Stepford moms who remember their first crushes who were the lacrosse playing bad boys, with their easy smiles and flowing locks.
You have the current students who are brainy and often nerdy, who think the way to cast off that vibe and get the girls is to be a lacrosse playing bad boy, with the easy smiles and flowing locks.
Hmm I don’t know about the rest but I know many many boys at STA and they are anything but nerdy. Sure, there are good students but many of them are really strong athletes and anything but nerdy.
I guess being nerdy is unacceptable at STA? Nice place you got there.
