DNC chair:ocasio Cortez represents the future of our party

Democrats are speaking out. She doesn’t appear to be making many friends.

Frustrated Democratic lawmakers are offering Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez some advice: Cool it.

Ocasio-Cortez stunned the political world with her upset primary victory last month over Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), the head of the House Democratic Caucus and a rising star within the party.

But while the improbable win made Ocasio-Cortez an overnight progressive superstar, a number of House Democrats are up in arms over her no-holds-barred approach, particularly her recent accusation that Crowley, who has endorsed her candidacy, is seeking to topple her bid with a third-party run.

The members are not mincing words, warning that Ocasio-Cortez is making enemies of soon-to-be colleagues even before she arrives on Capitol Hill, as she’s expected to do after November’s midterms.

“She’s carrying on and she ain’t gonna make friends that way,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.). “Joe conceded, wished her well, said he would support her … so she doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about.”

“She’s not asking my advice,” he added, “[but] I would do it differently, rather than make enemies of people.”

Asked if Ocasio-Cortez is, indeed, making enemies of fellow Democrats, Pascrell didn’t hesitate.

“Yes,” he said. “No doubt about it.”

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) offered a similar message, saying success in the 435-member House comes slowly — and hinges largely on the ability of lawmakers to forge constructive relationships with other members. Alienating more senior lawmakers within your own party, he warned, will only stifle the ability of Ocasio-Cortez to get anything done — even despite her newfound celebrity.

“Meteors fizz out,” Hastings said. “What she will learn in this institution is that it’s glacial to begin with, and therefore no matter how far you rise, that’s just how far you will ultimately get your comeuppance.”

Two points:

1. Perez is calling her the future - the far-left liberal guy who thinks it's good for taxpayers to defend and support illegal aliens charged with crimes. Completely tone-deaf as to what America wants - which is enforcement of immigration law.

2. The fact that she won just shows how liberals will vote in Santa Claus - no matter how clueless or ignorant she is.

Lieberman encourages New Yorkers to vote for Crowley.

Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic senator, appealed to voters in New York's 14th Congressional District on Tuesday to vote in November for top Democrat Joe Crowley and not the Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

In a scorching article for the Wall Street Journal, Lieberman, who’s now an Independent, criticized Ocasio-Cortez’s agenda as “more Socialist than Democratic” and said her presence in Congress will “make it harder for Congress to stop fighting and start fixing problems.”

“Thanks to a small percentage of primary votes, all of the people of New York’s 14th Congressional District stand to lose a very effective representative in Washington,” he wrote.

“[House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi] knows that if Democrats are to regain a majority, it will be by winning swing districts with sensible, mainstream candidates. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is making that task harder across America,” Lieberman wrote.

“Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America, whose platform, like hers, is more Socialist than Democratic. Her dreams of new federal spending would bankrupt the country or require very large tax increases, including on the working class,” he continued. “Her approach foresees government ownership of many private companies, which would decimate the economy and put millions out of work.”

Lieberman killed the public option, hasn’t been a Democrat in a decade, and his law firm represents Trump. I think Ocasio Cortez would slow her roll, too but hardly anyone is listening to frigging Joe Lieberman.

If this keeps up, I can see Cortez being used by Republicans as the face of the new Democratic party and it will not help with middle America:

You are a Trumpster. Quit the concern trolling. Republican Congressmen and a Senator spent July 4 in Russia. How do you think that plays in middle America? Worry about your own party.

I am a Trumpster? Hilarious!!

I have been a liberal since before you were born. Being a liberal does not mean one has to toe the party line hard as it may be to believe.

Did anyone see this video? Pretty frightening.

If she were a Republican she’d be labeled stupid within in an hour by every major media outlet in the US. But she’s a democratic socialist (which is in and of itself inherently stupid) so she’s given a pass. Yikes.

^^I'll add that I have not voted for a Republican for president in decades.

Yes, you are constantly here supporting or defending Trump. I have never seen you take a single liberal position. You used to start every post by saying, "I didn't vote for Trump but...". Now you don't bother with the prelude. You are really a one-trick pony.

First, "I have been a liberal since before you were born" and second, "I have not voted for a Republican for president in decades". So, back in your liberal days, you voted for Republicans, Odd.

No, I have a problem with the hysteria that abounds about Trump and his antics. Like it or not he is president and it is foolhardy to ignore the factors that brought him into office. Now that is a point I have made repeatedly.

And, no it is not racist, ignorant, uneducated local yokels who voted for him. I know this because I actually interact and socialize with some who voted for him. I am sure there are racists who voted for him but it is asinine to assume that because someone voted for Trump he/she must be a racist.

Yes, I did not vote for Trump nor did I vote for Hillary - they were both thoroughly odious. I actually wrote in Sanders name when I voted. I also supported Sanders during the primaries less because I thought he was the right person and more because I was hoping he'd succeed in blocking Hillary.

And as far as taking liberal positions on this forum, you have no idea what you are talking about because there are multiple posts when I have done so.

There are only two ways of removing Trump from office: defeat him in an election or impeach him and remove him from office. The latter will not happen given that one needs 67 votes in the Senate to accomplish this. So we are left with defeating him in an election and Cortez's harebrained ideas are not the answer.

I am sure that this will be hard for you to come to grips with but your views are not necessarily the panacea for liberals. You have a viewpoint which may or may not be right - just as I do.
