I posted this and wanted to share more details.in case it helps anyone else in the future. My daughter is not currently enrolled in FCPS so applying was much more difficult as we were on our own. We submitted three letters of rec (two former teachers and an outside activity coach) along with the usual initial packet. The only information we submitted for the appeal was the WISC. I admit to being extremely happy she was accepted as I strongly feel it is the best fit for her. |
And also a picture? And a SSN? Thank you! |
Troll. |
Made me laugh! No one else got asked what center they will be going to. And it was already clear they included the WISC for appeal so that wasn’t the brightest question. |
| Does the center matter for applications (or appeals)? |
I wouldn’t think so. Unless you are trying to stalk a poster or figure out who they are IRL. Or at least, that’s how it sounds. |

NNAT: 145
COGAT: 131 GBRS: 11 WISC: 130 , submitted on appeal IN Submitted appeal with WISC and recommendation letters from Swimming and Chess coaches. Also included Parent Recommendation |
Should have been in the first round. Congrats! |
NP. Congratulations! I'm also shocked this kid wasn't in on the first round. It seems like the GBRS was probably the initial issue. I really don't like it that a subjective rating can potentially keep a kid out of a program unless their parents have the resources to get a WISC test and letters of recommendation from coaches (not faulting you for doing any of these things, but there are plenty of parents who can't). |
Congrats your child get in! I’m so suprise your DC can’t get in in first round, his NNAT score are qualified to the pool! GBRS is not bad too! I know a kid NNAT is 140 but CoGet is 127 get in in first round. |

CoGAT (Composite score): 118
NNAT:112 GBRS:11 WISC:124 In or Out: Ineligible Not a surprise that DC was denied level IV on appeal. What IS a surprise is that DC was also found ineligible for Level III. I didn't submit the WISC with the Level III referral because I didn't think it would be needed. I'm at a lose. DC got nothing out of level II this year. |
Some aggrieved parents think it is easier to get into centers in the poor/lower middle class areas.
|
Not particularly aggrieved, but it makes sense to me that some centers would be easier to get into than others (that includes DD’s). |
