No. He would be bored and miserable because he is stuck on a plane, and no one is playing with him. If he were next to me, then I would play with him, and he wouldn’t be bored. Or the person sitting by him can play with him, and he won’t be bored and miserable. I am not going to give a four year old a $500 iPad so that he doesn’t disturb the jackass who can neither move from their $20 seat nor interact with the child sitting next to him. |
In other words, you’ll let your kid have a miserable flight to prove a point because you were too cheap to pay for seats together. Awesome parenting. Good job. |

You will risk your kids sitting next to an unknown adult?
Next to your young child. Yikes. No way. Maybe I read too much Metro section and watch the news. Just to save money. Nope. |
So someone’s $20 means nothing to you - YOU shouldn’t be expected to pay it - and they’re the jackass? The entitlement is just staggering. |
+1. You were to cheap to pay the $20 to sit with your child and now the person who did pay the $20 is a jackass because they don't want to switch with you or play with your kid? Are you for real? And I only interact with babies on planes, not kids. |
| The airline will seat age 5 and under with a parent. At least that is what United told me. I had to call them, but customer service told me that their policy is to make it work for 5 and under. Therefore, my youngest and I were seated together in economy plus but didn’t have to pay extra - just because those were the only seats avail together. |
This made me laugh- I was on a Virgin flight years ago watching The Hangover. I hadn't seen it before so I had no idea what to expect. Lots of nudity in that movie. Lots of kids on the flight. Oops! |
