New backpack each year?

I bought an LL Bean backpack for DS because I knew they lasted forever. So it's gone through K, 1st and will be able to be used again in 2nd. If it were falling apart I'd get him a new one. We used the lunchbox for 2 years but now it just needs to be replaced because it's gross. I'm amazed it wasn't lost!

Recycling is basically reusing something in a new way, which reduces the need for more. Like paper. We recycle it so we can reuse it and reduce the need for more. So your theory is completely backwards.
