How to opt out of PARCC at Deal?

Anonymous
As the only family opting out this year at our DCPS ES, I'm taking my kid out partly to head off a whispering campaign about what entitled jerks we are for demanding that already over extended staff supervise our child during test. No shortage of playground gossips around.

My 8 year-old was supposed to be tested for 2 hours and 40 minutes today, and again tomorrow. Total waste of time. Glad she's spending testing blocks reading for fun while I keep an eye on her instead.

FYI, I heard that OSSE has signed a 5-year deal with Pearson to continue to use PARCC. They are going to change the name next year so that it isn't obvious that they are going to be the only state still using PARCC.

Almost three hours two mornings straight is way too long for little kids to be taking standardized tests. Parents in many states wouldn't put up with the 10-hour PARCC. They agitated for shorter tests for a few years and got them.

Really hope you're right.
