You are a world-class idiot. |
The rich don't have tax shelters? Really? |
NP. Your response makes absolutely no sense and your reference to old tax rates means nothing. No comparison to current time. None. |
Yep, no tax shelters for the rich. |
Good LORD. I AM rich and trust me, there are tax shelters. Lots of em. |
There really aren't any significant shelters left. They left us in 1986. Sure, it's possible to defer income and sometimes change its character, but the notion of a tax shelter (which is not also criminal tax evasion), is largely gone. |
Well said. |
Tax shelters were very different then. You are comparing apples to oranges and showing your ignorance. |
Envy is a destructive emotion. |
From a revenue perspective, that would be a tear in a salted sea. Every little bit helps, but in the great scheme of things, these changes amount to very little revenue. |
$150K in this area for a family of 4 is hardly living the high life. I do not consider this being very successful. Successful absolutely but your qualifier is incorrect . This family would not be struggling but they certainly wouldn't have a ton for extras after retirement and college savings. $150K is far too low to start paying taxes at 50% without impacting the quality of life for the middle class. $150K is two parents at $75K each or one at $100K and one at $50K or some other permutation. However at no point wold anyone say someone making $75K or even $100K has been very successful. |
Same thing for the inheritance tax. In fact, the inheritance tax would harm a good number of small businesses - businesses that have a lot invested in the business (equipment, goods, etc.), but very in terms of liquid assets. |
