Seeing a lot of talk about the exorbitant prices and not as many people discussing how teachers are paid hourly, receive ten minutes of paid planning per class, and often have to work two or more jobs to stay afloat in the areas Fusion has campuses - I saw some Trustpilot reviews address this and it immediately soured me on the whole thing. I love the idea of a 1-on-1 model but knowing that they treat their teachers that way? No way am I spending 40k for that. It doesn’t seem like they are very transparent about where all that money goes. |
How many classes is considered to be a full load? |
Rockville is $4,835 per class per semester. If you child takes 5 classes that's $24,175 or $48,350 for the year. That's in line with the other area private schools. Bullis is around $54K, St. Andrews is $49K, Holton is $50, and NCS is $53. |
They are a for-profit company. I looked into it myself a while back and someone is definitely getting that money, but it's not the teachers. |
We were happy to have Fusion Academy as an option when our child missed several months of school due to a health issue. It was a gentle re-entry to school for our child and for him snd he was able to finish his grade, which would not have been possible in the regular school. Crazy price tag? Yes, at least for us because we are not rich. But our child is was academically successful, connected with some of the teachers very well, and made some friends. We would do it again if we had the need. |
What about single parents & disabled parents with low to middle income? Child is in an expensive sports how can parents pay for this? I see a few school districts have online options. No FA resources. It appears this school is marked to high income individuals in the DMV region! SMH |
Where do students who finish high school at Fusion end up going after? |
Do teachers have to come up with their own lesson plans and content or is it given to them by Fusion? |
It is marketed to higher income families and it's a private entity so can price themselves any way they choose. Perhaps you are looking for the virtual academies that many of the public school systems now offer. |
