| The name alone has always turned me off. |
Ree is very smart, but this persona is definitely her shtick. It's why so many people, even on this thread, think she's "urban" and not from Oklahoma. She's a fantastic business woman and married to one of the wealthiest ranchers in the US, but she'd like you to believe she's just a busy rancher's wife tasked with the job of wrestling up food for hungry cowboys. It's good marketing, but all those little half truths also rub people the wrong way when it is portrayed as being the reality of her life. Being a "city girl" turned pioneer woman is a much more interesting story than being a woman from small town Oklahoma who marries a rancher from another nearby small town. She is a city girl in the same way that Hilaria Baldwin is from Spain. |
I don't care about how she is a triumph of marketing this persona and outsourcing pretty much all the work of her life (writing the blog, developing recipes, homeschooling -- she does none of that) except to the extent that other women without staffs think they ought to be able to pull off something similar despite not having her marketing background or her resources. I don't care that Hilary isn't Spanish. I mind very much that she tries to claim that she understands racism because people think she's her kids' nanny and that she claims one can get a slammin' bod by doing some pushups off the bathroom sink. |
What is your evidence for this? |

Good grief, who cares? I don’t watch the show, read the blog, or buy her merchandise, but I found her recipe for make-ahead mashed potatoes on the Food Network website once, and they are a holiday staple for me. It’s been a game-changer to make mashed potatoes ahead of time and have them be amazing when heated up, especially on Thanksgiving. She also has a good recipe for Burgundy mushrooms that I modified a bit, but it’s a great basic recipe that produces something delicious that can cook on the stovetop all day and frees up oven space.
Like everything else in life, I take the good and leave the bad/whatever doesn’t interest me. It’s weird that you guys are so invested in picking apart someone if you don’t like them. If you don’t like her, why give her so much attention and real estate in your brain? Weird. |
| I love her. Her recipes are perfect for my picky eater. I’m first generation American and don’t have a grandma who made sugar cookies or Mac and cheese. Her receipts have simple ingredients, are easy to make and my kid will eat them. I don’t mind her cowgirl schtick because I realize that anyone who has a show on tv is probably faking it. Plus, I think she’s attractive in that all American way that is very exotic for me. |
| How she says potatoes. “Pah-tay-duhs” |
| She seems too smug. I like molly yeh - the musician turned farmer lady much more- girl meets farm. |
| Laughing after everything she says. Very annoying!, |
You don’t have to watch the show, you know. I don’t care how she laughs. She has some good recipes that have become family favorites, like Burgundy Mushrooms. Like any other chef, it’s hit-or-miss; I never got the love for the Chicken Spaghetti. But whatever, I like most of her recipes that I’ve tried. I think Giada is annoying, but I like some of her recipes, too. Ina can be a little smug, but I love her recipes. |
| I am not a big fan but she has some good recipes. She specializes in the kind of food DH loves and sometimes it’s nice to have a comforting dish. I find the name “Pioneer Woman” cringey and don’t like the way the show makes it appear her entire role is to support her hardworking man by cooking. But more power to her if she found a way to make a living. She’s no more cringey than all the parenting and fitness influencers on SM. They’re all fake too. |
We get it, you are a "foodie." Lol |
Is this the first lifestyle show you have ever watched? |
| Pioneer woman is an ultra rich woman, not a pioneer. She grew up on a golf course and married a many generations landowner in a family that got the land in shady ways, literally out of Killers of the Flower Moon. |
| so why are you reactivating a thread from 2015?? If you don't like it, it's gone? Why do you have to dredge up old stuff? |
