I hate getting "booed"

If the kids do it on their own, that's fine. It's adults getting all involved in this crap and one-upping each other (and increasing the cost of gifts) that I find silly. And noticing--let alone caring--whether or not someone participates is beyond stupid.

It's the kids---its some frickin' twizzler minis, a few jolly ranchers, airheads, etc. It costs all of $1-2. The parents won't be bothered. My kids love the 'boo' part of it. They could care less if we get boo'd--but pretty much every house with kids ends up getting boo's by the time it is all over. Anyone without a boo sign is next...

What is the "'boo' part of it"? I guess I don't understand how this works. You leave candy on someone's doorstep for them to find? Or you ring the bell and run away?
