The schools that are equally selective/rigorous/prestigious as Kenyon do not have better brand recognition. Kenyon is one of the most famous LACs especially due to its excellence in English and its beautiful campus.

You're seriously suggesting that Kenyon has the same brand or prestige as Amherst, Williams, Midd, Bowdoin and the like?

It really isn't in the same league by every objective measure....average scores, admit rates, yield, frosh retention, grad rates, etc.

In my educated upper middle class circles, both as a child and as an adult, Kenyon is known. People are aware of the difference between Williams and Kenyon, but it's still a highly respectable and known college. Kenyon is what it is, a college catering to the nicely above average and decently hard working kids of the upper middle classes, who will go on to have nicely above average and decently hard working and comfortable upper middle class lives.

Quite a few Kenyon grads in and around DC. I see the shirts often enough and no more or no less than I see Williams or Amherst shirts.

If you spend this amount of time parsing differences and counting t shirts.... Short answer: Kenyon is fine for those rejected by better schools.
