How much do you tip a massage therapist for a 60 minute massage?

It just get too expensive. I consider this as therapy... like physical therapy.

Massage therapist don't get that much. Owner get most of the fee. I chip 20% because I really appreciate what they do.

Keep in mind that is usually an either 1 or 2 year program. The salary is a decent return on the investment.

Yourself it's almost an insult!

"An Insult"???? Tell me where you work so I won't go there...

I provide a service for my clients and no one tips me. I chose my work, I don't expect tips and I still feed my children. If you can't feed your children then don't have any.

what if I have a coupon for 1/2 off. Do I tip off the full price or my price??

Wow I came here to figure it out myself and seeing therapists complaining about making 30% of 120 dollars plus tips is disturbing. That's $36 dollars a hour before tip......you should be grateful for what you receive....not complaining it's not enough is kinda disturbing.

For those getting $16 a hour but their spa is collecting $120 the ownership is screwing you not the clients. Take it up with them.

As for the dirty people comments...you have the right to refuse service.

The people sweat while getting a massage comments. That's like a plumper complaining they have to deal with shit, kinda ignorant don't you think?

Just wow...I know soldiers/police and firefighters that make less than that.

Just sad.

It makes no sense to not tip the owner they have to pay all the overhead costs for the business. I agree with the 10-20% range.

$5-10 is plenty

How much do you tip a doctor or nurse being paid $50 to $90 per hour! ? gimme strength I'm the guy with the sole muscles wishing I was earning that much..

$10 - no more. They get a salary. They dont need handouts

So glad I live in the UK, it's not expected to tip anyone unless they give you a really excellent service, not even waitresses.

I don't think it's fair that people should feel like they MUST pay extra on top, as mentioned by someone else, people do choose their job and they are getting paid for it. If it's that bad change it, don't ask for sympathy!

Looks like another person randomly heard something from someone and took it for gospel... At least google something before you start saying stupid stuff.
