Those people can't help themselves. They have an emotional regulation disorder. The best we can do is to accommodate their behavior. We can't just lock up people who get upset when confronted with the rules.

There is no free lunch and there should be no free transportation. All able bodied adults should be providing some form of public service in return for public assistance. If they need to take public transportation to perform that public service then provide them with loaded metro card.

They didn't. Ancient Rome had a tax system which funded public works. Ancient Greece had taxes to a lesser extent.

Not a single person responding to this thread has given me a legitimate reason the DC government can’t just make WMATA buses free. If they made them free, it would instantly solve the so-called issue of “fare evasion.”
