Why do so many people put private school bumper stickers on their cars?

Have you actually experienced that? That’s wild

I don’t wish anyone ill, I just wouldn’t want to be perceived as bragging like that

I have a private school magnet on car no a few years ago when I was buying a house, the owner was driving around checking to see who was at the open house. I ended up getting the house with a lower bid because of the sticker. The family really liked the school my kids attended. Catholic school not big 3.

This. I have my kids' public school magnet on my car. School spirit and all that that. We love the school. If they went to private and we loved that school, I am sure we'd have a magnet.

This is jumping out at you because you have strong feelings about private schools. People put all kinds of school bumper stickers on their cars - depending on the school I assume it's either something their kid asked them to do (elementary-high school) or they're very proud and trying to show support (college). It's not a big deal even if it's not what you would choose to do.

People don’t freak out like this if someone has $500k more house.

NP. What about professional sports like stickers? Do they bother you?
Is it OK to support millionaires that don’t have any loyalty to the organization?

Yes. I also experienced it when I switched from an Acura to a Benz. I don’t drive any differently.

Who gives a shizzzz? And if you do (like the OP and others clearly do), please, do yourself a favor and chill. There are way bigger things going on in this world and likely in your life that deserve your attention and focus. Sheesh. Talk about messed up priorities.

OP you were the one who posted about the Bullis traffic, weren’t you? Traffic does give you a whole lot of time to examine someone’s bumper…

Because I paid for it!

There’s a thin line between pride and bragging. I don’t attach my tax return to my car.

Sorry but it’s weird.

I'm the OP and I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this weird.

It’s always annoyed me and the responses you’re seeing that it’s being done for the practical reason of drop off is just complete bullshit. It’s done because of pride, which goes before the fall as they say. Posters should be honest at least.

So private school families aren't allowed to feel a sense of shared identity and community and display a sticker on their car. But public school families, sports families, camp families, etc. etc. are just fine to do so? Ok.

I never said anything about public schools. This is a private school thread. In any event, the pride isn’t over “shared community” but shared exclusivity and you know it.

Why do you care so much? This feels like a toxic trait that you resent anyone for any display of wealth. Do you resent a SAHM who drives a Range Rover and looks good in yoga gear? Do you resent the woman carrying a Birkin bag? Do you resent someone who lives in an expensive house in an expensive neighborhood? The list is endless. You caring about families who put school stickers on their cars is bizarre to me, and, as stated, indicative of a deeper problem you have. And no, I don't have kids in private schools.

Yea, that’s weird too. Two of our kids went to UVA and I guarantee you if I told you we drive around with a UVA sticker on our car you’d wretch.

We don’t.

Hopefully your kids learned how to spell retch while they were there.

I never knew people were stressed about this until dcum.

But I don’t put school stickers on my car because I don’t want to damage the brand if I need to drive fast.

I put our school's sticker as it is a small school, I would like to promote it.
