| The university's internal selection of 'peer' schools isn't intended for the purpose you seem to be using it for. It's used for internal uses like making comparisons for resource allocation, benchmarking salaries, etc. A lot of times, universities select aspirational schools because of what they're trying to achieve internally. A lot of times, they select schools in similar types of cities (because this makes a difference for salary allocation). For example, few would place George Washington and Georgetown as true 'peers' but last I checked, GW listed Georgetown. Because it is an aspirational school in the same market. And they compete in some of the graduate programs. |
