LOL, I don't think that's the part PP was saying "are you for real" about.

How is this going?
Update we are in week 3. Did anyone DC get their phone taken? I want to know if they are following this rule or letting side, didn't hear much from my kids about kids getting their phone taken away. |
I work in one of the high schools. The first week we implemented it, a lot of phones were taken, mainly in the hallway. There has been a STEEP decline in how many have been taken since. Kids are either learning or they get better at hiding them
|
It will depend on the school/teachers obviously, but my school has collected close to 80 phones a day since we implemented it. Many a kid are already in detention each lunch or after school as punishment. 95% of kids are doing what they are supposed to do though. --HS teacher |
There was an entire thread in the Teen section on a 13-year-old 7th grader getting suspended because she used her phone and refused to give it to the admin who she was sent to talk to. It sounds like the schools are enforcing the measure. |
| My middle schooler reports that kids are on their phones during the advisory period. Phones are also going to be allowed in Yearbook so the kids can take pictures. I’m disappointed as my kid doesn’t have a phone. |
What school? Mine has said there are no phones and teachers are very strict about it. |
They just distributed the pouches at my kid's middle school today so I think it's a school by school thing. |
Our school is not doing the pouches. |
I would assume many kids will just put their “burner” phone in the pouches. |
That is interesting as my daughter's academy class can no longer use phones and they were used daily last year for recording performances. |

My ES kid in South Alexandria said they had a 6th grade sub yesterday and he let all the kids use their phones for the last hour of the day to help them catch up on independent work!
Apparently some Subs are rolling in with last year's standards. |
Unacceptable. Report this to admin. They need to do a better job of training/informing the subs and blacklist those who think it's a joke. --teacher |
| What kind of trashy person lets their 6th grader have a smart phone, and bring it to school, even worse? |
my dd had one because she was staying home alone for an hour. Poe didn't have childcare back then. |
