ISO a college that really cares about leadership

it sounds like you're worried about 1st world problems like what is the highest prestige school your 3.7 gpa kid can get into since he's "such a leader" and at such a wonderful feeder private school.

we don't care about your need to chase the highest possible prestige despite your kid not applying himself in spanish. your school and its many resources can help you figure out a happy landing at a great school given how much of a feeder they are to the movers and shakers. your kid is already all set. leave us alone.

I have a pet peeve when people put in quotes things nobody ever said. it's lazy and dishonest. "such a leader" is your quote.

Also, stop being so insecure. You can just move past threads. Nobody is asking for your "insightful advice"

Leadership is subject to interpretation. Don't think Vandy is frat-infested party school.
but also to me leadership means leadership in terms of qualities for future entrepreuner future SCOTUS future nobel laureates, etc.

Which Vandy has produced few of.

For a rigorous private school kid, you asked for targets - those are going to be those in the 20-40 range - Michigan, Emory, NYU, Georgetown (will like the 1550 score), Tufts, BC. If the DC was a recruited athlete I’d tell you any school was in play and they very well may get into a reach but I wouldn’t count on it.

ND likes our HS and they kids every year with this GPA (and reject more). So with leadership - which ND likes - I guess it's a fit. We've never been so it's hard to know. I think my son may go out there this fall and stay with old classmates who are there.

I loved CMC when we toured, DS didn't like it. Hoping he reconsiders. Did ike Pomona, but Naviance doesnt look good.

not interested in Military academies, although they seem to accept everyone from our HS who applies. I think our HS has good guidance on that process.

GPA too low for HYP, I think. Might try Princeton. I think it's a super reach.

He's interested in both SLACs and medium sized schools (6-8k range).

If unhooked, Vanderbilt likes extroverted kids who “do” things. A lot of things.
Traditional sports and school clubs are fine.

This is accurate. Vandy likes the kids that are smart, class president, team captain and also prom king/queen. Literally, 99% of the kids I know that are at Vandy fit this mold. The 1% that doesn’t is a very smart double legacy.

A kid like OP’s kid would hate Wake Forest. Please.
