Do you look up the value of people's houses on Zillow?

The most accurate method is digging though peoples trash.

My tenant decided not to pay rent “because there was no mortgage on the rental”. Talk about privacy!

All of these documents are public because you (or those you do business with like a mortgage company) are choosing to enjoy the security and protection of the State by recording them.

Deeds, liens, etc, can be recorded -- with all of the protection of the state there and the security that comes with it -- without making that info available to anyone and everyone online. Title searches could still be done by interested parties without this. And were, for hundreds of years.

You also had to write a check at the grocery store for hundreds of years. Technology changes and improves. The records are public.

homes.com has the current balance down to the dollar for our house.

Wow, I have no idea how I didn't know this, but I just did some searching and it was quite eye opening! Our information was 100% correct. I looked up my mother's home and found out she no longer has a mortgage - which is crazy because she complains to us about how expensive her house is!

You realize that one can have this protection without having anybody look up the info online

I look at sales data but not Zestimates because they are almost always wrong.

Sane with me. It's scary all this information is available so easily. When I emailed them to remove it they told me legally they don't need to. What the hell

No. This is very strange behavior.

It might be wrong. I looked up our info and it was partly correct, partly incorrect.

Yes because I live in a wealthy place and people’s homes are ridiculous.

Anyone knows how can one remove this information from their website?

Thanks

Ours is slightly off, lists one as a 30 year mortgage but it’s 15 so the balance they show is too high. We pay extra on an investment property every month and that isn’t showing in the balance. Generally correct though.

Okay, we get it. No need to post 4 times over several hours with slightly different details!

I looked mine up on homes.com Totally wrong. It still shows the original loan as open, with a high outstanding balance. Then it shows the refi as open with a higher balance than we have. So the two together are way more than our small remaining balance. It does accurately show the bank, rate, original loan, terms, etc.

Me too. Straight to the source.
