Why? What was extravagant about it? Just saying things doesn't make them true...

I'd like to know as well, PP. What was so extravagent?

Are you saying members of the president's family should never fly to Europe (or elsewhere) unless they have to be there anyway for a State Visit?

Yes. Why else would there be a need for FL and child to go to Europe, or any other continent?

I doubt that she has because the hubris of two two former administrations, Clinton and Bush, pales in comparison withthat of the Obama Administration.

I saw photos of MO and daughter at Palace with Spain's royal family. I thought MO had gone to Spain to console her grief-striken friend who father died but this grief-striken friend was nowhere to be seen when MO and Ameican Prinesss Sasha visited royals. Why not, I wonder. Maybe because the WH was trying to get out of an unpleasant situation. It ain't playing well here or in Peoria.

Now the WH has announced that the first family wil go to Panama City and spend the grand sum of approximately 27 hours there. Oh, thank you Pres. Obama and Queen Michelle and little princesses, for the crumbs from your kingly plate. Thank you for showing all Americans just exactly how much you do care about the plight of those affected by the BP Oil catastrophe--27 hours worth of care..

You were never going to like her, anyway. I'm sure she's not sweating your disapproval.

BTW in Peoria it plays very well. That's their home turf.

Don't confuse downstate IL with Chicago. Definitely NOT their home turf.

Obama carried Peoria by a margin of 14 points. I don't know where your superior knowledge of Illinois politics comes from

How long have you been out of the cabbage patch?

In the 1800's Broadway was the big lure for vaudeville, shows, but some people also considered Broadway to be a den of vice ("vice" has been used for your benefit because I am not sure if you would understand "den of inequity"). Peoria, IL was close enough to a big city to try out a new show or act but far enough away to represent what was considered Main St. Thus, the question or statement of "playing well in Peoria," was coined, meaning that an act that would be a hit in NY might not do well on a theatrical tour. Now it has come to mean that something theatrical, political, or whatever that plays well in New York, Wash., DC, and any other large city or metropolitan area might well bomb in Main Street, USA. This is particularly true in politics today because states in the middle America tend to be more conservative and voters may not vote for a politician if it goes against what they believe.

I hope you now understand that "It won't play well in Peoria," or any derivation, thereof, is not to be taken literally.
