Cruises are the easiest. You literally don’t need to worry about dinner reservations, activities, etc.

But they are also super trashy.

Sigh.

No, cruises are not super trashy.

Go price out a spring break cruise on Disney, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc. leaving from Florida and you’ll see how expensive it is. Hint: not cheap to fly to FL, stay in a local hotel, then cruise for a week…plus excursions.

I was a reluctant cruiser who quickly discovered how relaxing a cruise is. Sitting on a lounge chair in a quiet area while the kids go do other activities is bliss. Not having to worry about getting dinner reservations in touristy cities or islands is Heaven. Hitting 3 or 4 Caribbean islands and taking a cab to a quiet beach is awesome.

There’s nothing trashy about it.

Plus: I love the live music. Royal Caribbean has different kinds of live music all over their ships day and night. It’s fun.

Trashy and expensive are by no means mutually exclusive. Especially when it comes to cruises.

+1,000. The fact that so many here are defending cruises shows how much this board has declined. Utter unadulterated low class trash.

Feel free to go find a classier anonymous message board and stop mingling with us trash.

Lisbon! Nice weather, direct flights, great prices, nice hotels, great food, beautiful sights. Stress free. Much more reasonable than London.

We live on the Colorado front range, so we just go up to Breckenridge and ski for the week. Other families we know do the same so our kids have friends to ski and hang out with afterwards.

Why all the hate for cruises??

Not everyone on board is trashy. We've been a few times and it's a nice vacation. There are obese people everywhere. Just get on board a plane. I've sat next to many who really should get 2 seats. Obese people fly and they are on the interstate at the rest stops getting Krispy Kreme donuts. Don't let the obese stop you from vacationing.

I also had a good and easy experience with spring break in NYC. We take Amtrak and the Subway, plus the occasional Uber. Kids ranged from 5 to 10 and liked playing in Central Park (SE Corner), the Slime Institute, matinee musical, brief visit to Times Square, Chinatown for great food. Probably would have also done Empire State or World Trade Center but it was cloudy.

You’ve obviously never cruised on a good ship. You don’t know what you’re missing.
