Monica Lewinsky in New clothes campaign

But it’s interesting how she turned her victimhood into a career.

As a feminist, I recognized the power differential in the affair/scandal…but I saw her as a woman who made a choice, not a victim. Her name was dragged through the mud because of it, so she was a victim of bullying…but not sexual harassment in the traditional sense.

I don’t think she really wanted a husband and white picket fence. If she did, she could have gone that route (after all, she’s rich and beautiful). I think she has the life she wanted.

I wonder if the very public ad campaign was her final screw you to the Clintons? I mean, she looks gorgeous and is garnering positive attention.

Surely, as a feminist, you know how the feminists said "screw you" to Monica. Funny, no accountability for the US president to not abuse his power and screw interns. I think you might need to hand in your credentials.

I mean sure... I made some questionable decisions wrt men in my 20s, but I didn't pursue older, married people MULTIPLE TIMES. From what was shared regarding the Clinton affair, it was Lewinski who pursued Clinton. He initially tried to rebuff her. Clinton was 100% wrong to acquiesce. He should have recognized that there was a power imbalance even if she was the aggressor. I do not believe that Lewinski was a victim during the affair, but she sure as hell was a victim in the fallout. She did not have the maturity to understand what could happen if things went sideways. Clinton SHOULD have had that maturity, but clearly didn't.

I think she looks great in the campaign!

Zero chance. I'm Monica's age and met him a year earlier than the affair. I was with a friend who is drop dead gorgeous, same coloring as Monica's. He immediately went to her to shake hands, even though he walked past people to do so. He is, hands down, the most magnetic person I've ever met, or seen, IRL.

He's an exploitive pig.

I thought it was weird how when Chandry Levy was missing and people thought that congressman she was having an affair with had something to do with it, there wasn't the same shaming/disdain about her as toward Monica. Maybe because she went missing and was found deceased so there wasn't an actual person alive to bully. But the sentiment was just that she was just a young girl, and Monica was just that as well . I feel like Monica was bullied because she was (just a little) chubby.

Do you not remember how her mom said "don't you be a Monica" in one of their family videos?

I do think the difference was the circumstances. She went missing, and THEN the affair came out.

Not to mention he wasn't president.

I remember when her scandal broke and I was up here living in Foggy Bottom for the summer. I kept seeing her running from the press by the watergate and esp at Connecticut & L by Morton’s bc apparently her lawyer’s office was in the building (and her rides would always pick her up on the curb).

She is very pretty IRL and had beautiful hair (for some reason I really remember her hair). We are the exact same age and I couldn’t imagine being in that position like that, with crazing paps following you around, running down the street after you (which is really unheard of in DC). I felt super bad for her that she couldn’t like the normal intern summer life of going to Pollyesters or the Guards or getting free happy hour food at the Front Page. I think she had to hole up in the Watergate and never leave.

Is there an age cut-off for this, or such a woman is seen as a victim in perpetuity?

I am a woman and I find this mentality insulting. It's wrong when a man does it-- and it's wrong when a woman does it, too.

You must think women are capable of thinking for themselves. Where did you get that crazy idea?

I remember her hair too - thick, black, glossy, gorgeous. I wish she hadn't gone lighter because I think her natural dark brunette hair was so gorgeous on her.

Insanely magnetic. He eagerly shook my hand at a dinner back in the late 90s.

This is why it wasn’t until the 20th century that women got to vote.

Because unintelligent women like your mother raised misogynists?

Whut? It is well known that Bill Clinton was charismatic as all get-out. You can admit and recognize someone has it without falling prey to it.

Charismatic and the person who actually deserved to be shamed and ostracized in this whole thing.

DP. But that's because the liberal press didn't want to beat up on Clinton. Had it been a republican president, the media outcry would have been fierce

Why in the world do you “admire” Monica Lewinsky of all people?
