How much should be in 401k at age 40?

Sigh... 39 and I have a bit over 250K. But I don't have a DCUM income.

It is current salary for your age now.

Starting salary is a confusing way to say that.

Then only very few people can meet these objectives, maybe less than 5%.

I am 40 and have 440K in my 401K. No employer contribution until a couple years ago and it's $12K/year. I also have a 100K or so from backdoor Roths. Husband has similar amounts in both accounts. We dump the rest into a brokerage, maybe $1.5 million there.
