Do parents really take kid-specific trips?

Just wow!!
Op- I cannot think of one single kid who wouldn't want to visit Disney.
Heck I am an adult and I can keep going back to Disney again.

Agree! We’ve gone 3x as a family (Disney world and Disney land) and we all had a blast.

Took ds to Disneyland as a 3 year old and his face when he saw Handy Manny ( 12 years ago) I will not forget, then again we went to Disney and Epcot and Animal Kingdom - I want to go back on that Avatar Bird flight again!
We also did Disney Cruise when he was 5, I would love to do that again!
Now we have been to many places fancy or none all over the world many times, but Disney to me is magic!

But those kids of trips with kids ARE fun because you're with them and experiencing the joy of it thru their eyes and they are happy. Even if it's not your dream vacation.

OP I doubt that anyone cares that you went to Joshua Tree which is a short drive from 2 major cities and multiple airports. It's not that far off the beaten path and is a common CA destination. I think you have a very snug attitude in deriding other people's choices and that shines thru. I say this as someone who went to Joshua Tree with young kids and no one cared. At best "oh cool, how was it?"
