Watch or rewatch? It is so good, even more so on a rewatch.

PP here, i meant watch for the first time. I have kind of been avoiding it because i think it will be too emotionally taxing. Is it a difficult watch?

Yes, it’s gut wrenching. And yet the narrative is so skillful that you’re immersed in the story the way the people living the story are. It’ll stay with you though.
I consider it one of the best tv series of all time. But I’ve never rewatched it.

Agree that it's not easy viewing. And some episodes are slow. But it's like an academic-level analysis of why American cities are what they are with excellent characters.

If you go to the Wikipedia article there is this note and ten sources are listed: Sources that refer to The Wire's being praised as one of the greatest television shows of all time include...

NP

PP who is rewatching now. I actually don’t find it as hard to watch seasons 1-3 as the first time (ok, I skipped rewatching season 2), when I didn’t know what happened to characters. But, I am sort of dreading rewatching season 4. That season is really hard.

Regardless, so so worth watching.

PP here and i am starting it tonight 🤝

Enjoy! And don’t give up the first episode or two. It takes a second to get into.

I'm the one who mentioned Wikipedia. Come back and tell us what you think! As often as you want!

Agree! I do not get tired of discussing that show.

Friends
The West Wing
The Office
Seinfeld
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
The Gilmore Girls
Party Down
Veronica Mars
Sports Night

I think that's it for start to finish - lots more that I've seen certain seasons/episodes a bunch of times but not the whole dang thing.

PP to add - I forgot Breaking Bad!

Also I'm skeptical/impressed with those who say ER. That is FIFTEEN seasons and the last few are... not good. And these are old school, 22 episode seasons. That's approximately 236 hours of television, or almost 10 straight days, and you've done it... twice?!?

I did it once and thought that was an impressive feat. And as you can see, I watch a LOT of television

PP above who mentioned West Wing and Sports Night reminded me - Studio 60. I love that show (also helps that there weren't a lot of episodes).

I ran across a list of Matthew Perry's OTHER roles, and Studio 60 was on there (as well as his guest role on West Wing).

I also liked a short lived show he did called Mr Sunshine. I found it on one of the apps at some point and rewatched it. Still funny.
