I think they are smart and talented because they are smart and talented. Just look at the CDS data. While LACs are “whiter” vs the Ivies now for a variety of reasons, a lot has to do with Asian percentages. Asians seem to prefer the larger schools with more stem focus and well known brand names. So the point is LACs today have the look and feel of Ivies yesterday, for better or worse. But let’s be fair, even the least diverse LACs are only like 75 pct white. The country is 50 pct white. |
I say I went to school in New Jersey. People think it's braggy otherwise. But it's all over my c.v. |
| Not to name drop, but I attended a school in Baton Rouge. |
"Woke"? Really? |
Folks, when you say things like "I went to school in Boston"...of "I went to school in New Jersey"...you actually sound so much more like a douchebag. Just own where you went to school and move on. We know you didn't go to BU or Rutgers or even MIT...because an MIT kid wouldn't answer like that. |

Ivy leagues are now worthless. I say that as in the 1970s my very rich and very Jewish school sent their daughters there to meet a nice Jewish Doctor or Lawyer. Now it is useless for that.
Sounds funny but women used to go to school to get their Mrs. So schools with men of similar races, religion and wealth was important. Howard University, Yeshiva University still serve that purpose. |
Am I you? I could have written the same thing. |
Because it is true. There really were a lot of geniuses floating around. It's not surprising, they had their pick of high school graduates from the entire country. |
| I’ve lived my life between the US and the Middle East and have worked at various global organizations. Two of the smartest people I ever met were Harvard grads. They are on a whole other level of intellect. |
Same. But things have really changed. |
