What are people doing when they get in their cars and take ages to drive off when I am waiting for the parking space?

Same. I'm all about safety in a crowded lot. There's also a subconscious pattern to people getting in cars and then pulling out or backing out. If a car where you haven't seen anyone get in just starts to move (because the person has been sitting and decides to leave 15 minutes later), it can be jarring to that pattern. Again, just when it's crowded and because I'm super safe.

Just get in the car and drive off. That’s what I do. Why drag out the whole process for the person waiting. If you know someone is waiting for the parking space. I will even walk to my vehicle and point to where I am parked so people can get my space when I back out.

It depends on my mood. Once I got in the car, someone pulled up, I waved him off but he stayed. I got out locked the door and walked away, waited for him to leave the block, got back in the car to finish setting up to leave. I will not be rushed as I was going to be a while.
