Practical question re today's closure

Sorry to disappoint, but no. Mid-June, just like when I was a kid in Pennsylvania in the 80s. In a school that never closed for any of the above except the Christian holidays.

No, I believe in the separation of church and state. Public schools should not close for anyone’s religious holiday.

And then we can stop pretending that school is about educating children, and acknowledge it's about childcare and scoring political points for our team.

Wasting large amounts of financial resources on subs, and converting instructional days into days of babysitting by subs, only makes sense if you don't actually care about children's learning.

Subs? It’s hysterically funny that you think there are subs to waste money on. So far this year, I could not get a sub so that I could go a doctor appointment, a family funeral, or attend my own child’s IEP meeting. For all except the funeral, I started looking for a sub weeks in advance. In the end, my colleagues had to provide coverage. I, myself, do coverage at least three days a week because my colleagues can’t get subs either. When there is a rate sub in the building, we all stalk this poor person begging them to sub for us at some point.
