Emory

Neither is Vanderbilt or any of the schools pp listed above. Emory is a very good tier 2 school. A step below HYPSM and a few others. You can stomp you feet all you want but most people will immediately associate Vanderbilt with Emory when Emory is mentioned in conversation. Maybe WashU being a close second association. Those are it's peer schools which is supported by rankings not opinions. You're just going to have to get over it DP.

I think WashU is the much closer peer, along with Tufts and NYU... and "a step below HYPSM" is really pushing it.

Emory's closest peers are Notre Dame, Georgetown, Michigan, Tufts, USC, CMU, UVA, Wake Forest.

You can think what you want th rankings don't support that. Either you or someone else spoke on what academia has to say about these schools, but academics rated Emory a 4.2 for reputation the same or similar as Notre Dame, Georgetown, WashU, Vanderbilt (4.3), Rice (4.1) etc. Tufts was given a 3.8, NYU a 3.9, USC a 3.9, and Wake who knows. The people who matter have spoken. You're not one of those people.

So how many valedictorians are the local MoCo / Fairfax Co and Big 3s are praying the outcome is Emory. Uh yeah. Didn’t think so.

They are praying it doesn’t come to that.

DP... but have you really deluded yourself into thinking that top students are praying to go to Emory?

I am a DP...yes, there are lots of top students who want to go to an urbanish mid-size school in a big city in the south. Not many others with those attributes, WashU being one of them.

Not that many others nationally fit those attributes either: NWestern, Chicago, Tufts, CWRU, CMU, Hopkins, Gtown, Reed

So for kids who are smart and motivated, but without Ivy type hooks, these are great options.

I agree with you but let's also be honest with ourselves. Schools like NWestern, Chicago, Hopkins, and perhaps even Gtown are a class above the rest (incl. Emory) in terms of desirability and prestige.

Ok so who’s the sock puppeteer keeping this thread alive

You're only doing yourself a disservice if you think there's really only one person who doesn't believe Emory is some elite, supremely desirable destination.

You’re arguing with a brick wall here (not an Emory booster)

Beep beep beep (think garbage truck in reverse).

Back up school.

It has the lowest yield of any school ranked in the top 30.

Not desirable.

If your goal is Wall Street, sure, but otherwise, not really.

Emory would get you to Wallstreet before Hopkins would.
