live in DC, should I buy new in MD or VA

is there a difference in fees/taxes/etc if we buy a new car in Maryland or in Virginia and then title in it DC? We know the car market is crazy now - but still need to get a new car.

No difference. You pay taxes based on DC domicile of car.

You really are only on the hook for DC fees/taxes. Comparison shop both. Make sure to include all dealership fees.

pick the exact car you want and then shop only through the dealer internet staff from your home. If you care about color, anything but standard options packages, or are seeking anything that doesn't sell in large numbers, this won't work.

Virginia adds a dealer fee of about $395. It’s required. Maryland did not last I checked.
