This is just gross. How can parents allow this to happen?

Disgusting--nobody at all tried to help the man.

They were 8th graders, no one wants to be accused of hurting a child

Terrible. Who wants to ref when they are treated like that?

No, coaches could have intervened.

Every single one of those kids who physically assaulted that ref should be arrested.

I can’t believe that other ref did nothing to intervene.

This. They should be attending 9th grade from prison

Maybe he felt the guy deserved it too.

What is wrong with this country? Deserved it? Violence? Pathetic. Whatever it was that the ref may have done, it could be handled a million non-violent ways. The fact that these kids felt entitled to attack this man and no adults intervened is disgusting.
Anonymous
As usual there will be no real consequences for this behavior. No parent, coaches, fans intervened to help this man? No one pulled their own kid off of this man when they were attacking him? It is disgusting.

They should all be arrested for assault. Good people need to stand up against this type of behavior--especially in 8th graders. This is outrageous.

It appears that many of the people that attacked the ref weren't playing in that game. Of the two teams playing, one was wearing all blue (blue shorts and blue top) and the other was wearing all white (white shorts and white top.)
In the crowd of people attacking I see someone wearing red pants and a dark top, and another wearing black pants and a red top--both of those were just "street clothes" not basketball uniforms. I also see players wearing blue shorts involved in the attack, but some were wearing other tops (like they were on the bench the whole game?)

A guy wearing gray sweats does get in and try to stop the people from attacking the ref.

Some of them refs deserve it

No. It's a game. You do not assault someone over a game.

You do not assault someone unless in self defense. Period.

I hope they get "the book" thrown at them. And the families, league, are sued. Maybe that will teach people to start acting like humans instead of a-holes.
