Kid just turned 18. Is there something he’s supposed to fill out for selective service?

Set a reminder on your phone. Have the kids register to vote and sign up for selective service at the same time.

For my kids, who are young adults, you had to complete the selective service registration before you could complete the FAFSA. Hoping someone will chime in to see if it’s the same currently.

Its a standard question on any form or application for the Federal government ("Are you a male born after December 1, 1959?). A few years ago, the requirement to register before receiving aid was removed but the FAFSA still prompts it as a question. My sons did not receive anything from Selective Service but maybe that is because we were already tracking the requirement

When my son first completed the FAFSA, senior year of high school, he was 17. I don't know if we completed a FAFSA for the next school year, as we weren't eligible for aid. However, last week, we received a notice from Selective Service saying that he needed to register or he would be in violation of the law. He is now registered. It takes less than a minute as long has he has his social security number.
