Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| How long does it last and when do you know it is over? Started bleeding last night and passed huge clots this morning. Although pregnancy test is still showing a positive, I am 100% sure that I have completely miscarried. My pregnancy symptoms have disappeared and I am having what looks like a light period. Were the huge clots from this morning the end or should I expect more? I am obviously trying to get in to see my doctor, but I thought I would see what others experiences were like at this stage of pregnancy. |
| So sorry, OP. I think it took about 4-6 hours for me. |
| I'm sorry for your loss, OP. At six weeks I had heavy cramping and clotting, and then light bleeding and spotting for the rest of the week. |
| Sorry for your loss OP. I miscarried at 6 weeks as well. I had heavy cramping/blood clots for two days and then lighter bleeding for 5 days. I also had some blood clots during my next period (which came 4.5 weeks later). |
| OP here. Thank you. I am obviously hugely disappointed and sad but trying to remain optimistic and positive. When did you all have your first periods after the miscarriage? |
|
OP take it as nature taking it's course to prepare you for your baby. Miscarriages this early usually mean the embrio was not viable.

| I had the same experience, heavy bleeding for about one day, then light bleeding for a few days after. My period returned about 5 weeks later. We were pregnant again three months later. Best wishes to you and so sorry for your loss. |

i am sorry. same happened to me 2 years ago. we waited until i got another period (maybe 5 weeks later?) then TTC that cycle. we got pregnant- but keep in mind... your cycle may still be wacky, so don't anticipate a normal ovulation time frame (day 14 or whatever is 'normal' for you)... it turns out we randomly had sex day 20+ (long after the O window) and that turned out to be our gorgeous 2 year old daughter. good luck. |
| I miscarried at 6 weeks on Nov. 1; had a regular period five and a half weeks later and ended up conceiving. I'm at 21 weeks now. I know it doesn't always happen that way, but don't give up - you have reason to be optimistic and hopeful! |
| I have a different story. During my first pregnancy I had extreme bleeding/passing clots on and off till 5 months. It was completely shocking that I have a healthy 2 year old from it now. While I am sure you know your body, I am just giving another side. |
The test will continue to show a positive either way. It takes time for the hormones to leave your body. |
| I miscarried at 6 weeks as well and didn't get my next period until Day 40. The following cycle I ovulated on a 40 day cycle and got pregnant and am due next month. I felt really guilty because I accidentally drank while pregnant (not knowing I was pg), but have since forgiven myself as I realized that I did not cause the miscarriage - my body just wasn't ready. Good luck and try to stay positive! |

OP, your experience sounds similar to mine at 6.5 weeks. I had a bit of bleeding in the afternoon, then heavier bleeding the next morning. I had strong cramping for a few hours that afternoon and passed several large-ish clots. The bleeding became that of a normal period and lasted for about 7 days. I actually became pregnant again during the cycle that followed this miscarriage, but then miscarried naturally again at 10 weeks (US showed a 6-week sack). Period came back roughly 6 weeks after this miscarriage. Became pregnant 4 months later and am due at the end of the month.
Just FYI, blood tests after both miscarriages showed "normal" levels of HCG for a while... |
| I am very sorry for your loss. I miscarried at 7 weeks. Started to bleed, went in to see my doctor and ended up with a D and C. I did get pregnant the next month and had a healthy baby girl from that pregnancy. |
