| I'd like to get a few pairs of headphones for kids to use. We have a drum set, and I want to have several pairs around so that the kids can hang out in there but not damage their hearing. Anyone have a solid recommendation on headphones for standing near drums? There are a million options, but most reviews seem to focus on muffling the sound enough for folks with sensory issues. I want hearing protection. Thanks. |
| What ages? My DH is in a band and we had Babybanz, then switched to regular earplugs. But I'm confused why kids are hanging out while someone is playing the drums. Do you just mean the kids playing on the drum set? Are your kids playing the drums? |
| Op here. Thanks, PP. I have multiple children, so sometimes the kids who aren't playing are in the garage with the drum set, listening to the drumming. Or, the drumming kid has friends over and they all want a turn or are playing music with piano/drums. Or, honestly, sometimes my DH or I are in and out of the garage, doing different tasks, and I want to protect my own ears. Drums are really loud! I want everyone's ears protected. |

PP again. For elementary kids, just get a jar of orange foam earplugs. But don't expect them to actually use them. My DH and all of his friends have crappy hearing now from being teenagers that were too cool for ear plugs when they were teens. But ear plugs are at least slightly cooler than actual headphones.
If you want actual headphones, ones like these are what all of the middle aged folks at rock shows are wearing. https://www.amazon.com/Vanderfields-Ear-Muffs-Large/dp/B06XG1BSTV/ref=asc_df_B06XG1BSTV/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=507696750160&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9837786534388781955&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061285&hvtargid=pla-349328450571&th=1 |
