Staying on Grace Bay…. Do I need or will o regret not having a rental car while there for 5 nights? |
No, definitely not. |
I say definitely yes. It’s not really expensive and the best time we had was driving around the island exploring (Taylor Bay, Chalk Sound, driving to fish fry). |
+1 to all of this. We did the same thing and the car was totally necessary. If you just want to sit on the beach in front of your hotel and eat at resort restaurants, then no. But you will miss out on a lot. |
Was there a few years ago, and rented a car, we were able to drive around the entire island in about an hour or two. There really isn’t much to see.
Although we did take a drive out to the Amara resort one afternoon and had drinks and apps at the pool bar. It was fun to see how the 1% vacays. Lots of really old men with really young women. |
I’ve been twice (solo). I didn’t have a car either time. I attended the fish fry, went grocery shopping, and even attended a NYE celebration. You 100% do not need a car. |
Thanks OP again. I rented one but can imagine renting and it just sitting there. We are staying at seven stars and I kinda don’t wanna move. At least that’s how I feel before getting there. If I don’t rent then I’ll regret it. |
We always rent for a couple of days and stay put at the resort a couple of days. Never for the whole time in the Caribbean. |
That’s where I stayed both times I visited. It’s amazing. 😍😍 Your room is ocean front, right? [Non-car-having PP] |
Loved it there. We did not have a car and we were fine. |
I'm the first PP, also stayed at Seven Stars (Dec 2021) and 100% did not need a car. |
Stayed on Grace Bay a few weeks ago. You do not need a car. Our hotel had a shuttle to the grocery store but we didn’t use it. We took taxis and there was no problem. We walked along the beach to our preferred restaurant a couple of nights. |
Definitely do not need a car |
No snark but unless you’ve rented a car before and explored the island, what basis do you have to compare. The magic of the island is exploring the gems around the island. Parking is free and you can drive to and from the airport. It was only like $50-70 more to rent the car than taxi to and from so it was def worth it to us. We also went to the more affordable restaurants and grocery stores than on Grace Bay so probably came up even. Taylor Bay is the best part of the island to me. |
+1. If you only want to flip on the beach for a few days in front of your resort and eat nearby dining, that is fine. But if you want to see more, there is plenty to explore. We loved Taylor Bay and Chalk Sound so much that we went twice to both. I personally was not wowed by Grace Bay. |
