Are you able to share stats? Good friend's DC rejected @ Vanderbilt, WLed @ Duke. College office told the DC they would be quite likely for Vanderbilt. Ugh.
FWIW, GPA + LSAT = rank of school where one would be admitted. |
Vanderbilt accepts less than 10% of applicants. College office is not doing a good job if they say it’s anything better than a low reach. |

Duke
now you’ll ask why I think they are very similar. Can’t go wrong with either. But I think (opinion!) that Duke has better name recognition and a rabid alum network, so while the education and social experience are likely very similar, Duke potentially has long term positive impacts. But this is really splitting hairs. |
Agree with this. |
| Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Also does anyone have knowledge about the PPE program at Duke |
I'm the PP and completely agree. The kid was just caught crosswise after that. |

Vanderbilt is an amazing school and has a lot in common with Duke-- but it's no Duke.
Congratulations on the amazing choices. |
| Academically, they are comparable. But, Nashville is a ton better place to live and Duke has more assholes than Vandy by a wide margin. |

Umm no. They both have merits. Nashville has better food and music (even for non-country music fans). It also has more traffic (which should not affect students who live on campus much) and is the bachelorette party capital of the US currently. So young people seem to think it is a fun place to go. Raleigh is a bit “sleepier” , much like Nashville was 15 years ago. I’d choose Vanderbilt, personally. |
Agree. My guess is that friend's DC may have made a different decision for first round given that Vanderbilt rejects in ED1 (though did hear there were some deferrals this year). |
