Cherry Blossom 10mi

First time runner. I've been training for months and I'm still pretty intimidated by this race. Any tips from folks who have BTDT?

Have you done your long runs? Assuming so, you'll be fine.

There are lots of people who run it - some who think they are fast and are not. It is a crowded run - you will need to weave around people who started in a wave they should not have.

Have fun!

Go at your own pace and have fun. Don’t start too far forward since lots of people do that and they really do create problems.

Have fun and feed off the energy of the spectators. Don’t start too far in front if you’re not fast.

I did it ages ago. I sorta kinda trained. If you're tired, nothing wrong with just walking. The energy was great and you should just enjoy rather than worry about whether you have to run the entire 10mi.

It's easier than you think. Just pace yourself.

The start is usually crowded but that could help you from going out too fast - that is often what happens with first time runners and you will pay for it later in the race. Start slow! It is an enjoyable race except for Hains Point which seems to last forever! Have a great time

Thanks all!

I ran it two times and I’m in my 40s and not a great runner. You will be fine! Pace yourself and drink the free Gatorade

Newbie here. I just saw that headphones are not allowed? They don’t enforce this rule, right? At least not for the slow runners?

NP - no, they don’t enforce it, but please be aware of your surroundings. Don’t stop in your tracks to adjust your playlist. Don’t weave around because you’re more focused on the music than where you are. CB10 has such a fun atmosphere, I personally think headphones detract from it, but I know I’m in the minority.

OP, make sure you’re in the right corral for your project time, as others have said. It’s a big, crowded race, so you need to be aware of others. That said, it’s a great course, great energy, and the weather should be ideal. Have fun!

It was my best race. I started running (and exercising) late in life, and when I ran it, it was the windiest day in the race's history - so much so they took down almost all the signage (including mile markers!) and almost cancelled.

But I ran it -- and ran the whole thing, without stopping. It was only the 3rd time I'd ever run 10 straight miles. Windy, brutally cold, a big challenge, but very doable. If I can do it, anyone can--seriously!

Also, your weather looks great.

Also, I think names are still on the bibs? People will cheer you on by name!

Go enjoy yourself--you'll feel so great when you're done. Forget everything, just finish.

Waiting for my Uber to take me down. Good luck to anyone running today,

I was going to volunteer but I’ve got too much going on. Hope everybody has a great and safe race today!
