Dev ped just recommended Stattera / atomoxetine for an early elementary aged child with ASD Level 1, ADHD combined, and anxiety. Said had good results with other children with a similar profile. Any experience? Thanks in advance!

For me it was a disaster but it differs from child to child

It has worked well for my child. He started taking it in 5th grade. ADHD with dyslexia and dysgraphia. Stimulants did not work for him, he started blinking and having aural tics and got hives at the lowest level. He was on them less than two weeks.

He is still on it in college.

It was worthless for my child with the same profile. Fewer side effects than stimulants, but way less good at supporting the ADHD.

Thanks. Did you find something that worked?

Same. We tried other things and the best is Vyvanse. Adderal also works but for some reason we’ve stayed with Vyvanse with a supplemental short acting Adderal when needed.

Thanks. Did the anxiety increase?

Not really. Currently on a stimulant that causes minor tics and we're living with it, but it really is a lesser of two evils. Also anti-anxiety meds.

Worked well for mood regulation, but did nothing for attention deficit.

Thanks. That's what I'm concerned about. Being less anxious would help, but I don't think it's a complete solution to his inattention. Ugggh. We will see.
