I am very mad and apset with our goverment today.
Being in this country for 20 years from an European Country and an American citizen since 1995 I am finding myself seatting on my couch with an big question mark inside my head. I don't understand some of the rules that has been made in this country.Specially in the state of Maryland. Here is one of them; If an illegal immigrant tries to renew their driver license at any MVA location, they require to have an SSN(wish they don't have). However most of the time, those people have being living here for up to 5 years(and I know some of them). So,they can't renew their driver license but they will be living here anyway and I am sure this is not going to stop them to be having the same life as they did before when they had their non-expired driver license. Well,my point is; *Pakistani-AMERICAN has been arrested in connection with the failed SUV bomb in New York's Times Square. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? It doesn not make any sence to me! ![]() If an KILLER is allow to become an AMERICAN CITIZEN,so why an person who has being living here and does not have anything to do with criminality or being an killer, can't renew their license?? Please, can anyone explain this to me? |
I am reasonably sure that they did not know he was going to try to kill people when they gave him citizenship. We do frown upon that here.
As for how it can happen, we are a free country and that means that people like you can come here and sometimes bad people come into the country, too. The only way to prevent people like him from coming here is to prevent people like you as well. |
And who knows, perhaps when he arrived in the U.S. and when he was granted citizenship, he intended to be a peaceful productive member of this society. He might only have been sucked into the politics of hate later. Very few mothers look at their newborns and say "oh, a little psychopath!"; it's pretty safe to assume that most people BECOME hateful monsters, rather than being born that way. |
Op, your post is simply put - STUPID. The suspect is not (as fas as we know) a KILLER. The bomb did not go off. Also, if you took the time to read the news coverage you would know that his "downward spiral" only began a few years ago and that before then he was a "fine upstanding citizen" with a nice job and a house in the burbs.
Also, the reason illegal immigrants (regardless of how long they live here) cannot apply for citizen ship is because they are ILLEGAL. The suspect came her on a "highly skilled worker" visa and then became a citizen (I think via his wife, but the articles are not clear). What should concern you is the fact that for a second time the less than a year, the "do not fly list" was totally ineffective. |
Why would he have been on the "do not fly" list? This was his first attempt at terrorism and was caught ,primarily due to his own stupidity, for which we are all thankful. An airline employee reported to authorities that he was about to leave the country and at that point he was "a person of interest" not necessarily a suspect. In fact, according Eric Holder, he was questioned at length prior to reading him his Miranda rights. |
I think the issue is that he was a suspect and they still let him on the plane. He should have been added to the no-fly list and that should have stopped him when he tried to check in. It is electronic. So how did their primary suspect get onto the plane? Was he not added, or are the airlines not updating their systems the way they should?
|
He was added to the no-fly list several hours before purchasing his ticket. The airline had updated their version of the list. I haven't heard why he was able to purchase a ticket, receive a boarding pass, and board the airplane without the fact that he was on the no-fly list being noticed. Luckily, it was noticed before the plane took off (though, realistically, the Emirates would have turned him over had he made it that far). |
What I read said he was apprehended just before boarding the plane. There was obviously some communication because it was an airline employee who alerted NYPD of his whereabouts. I'm just thankful for the observant man selling t-shirts; the bomb didn't go off; and, he was apprehended before he could leave US. |
