How do you long-term store kids' papers, yearsbooks, etc?

I am in major clean out mode but the kids are pack rats and want me to save a lot of their school stuff. What is the best storage box or system? I'm picturing lining them up in the basement and as soon as they are done with college in 8 years they can take the boxes to their own place.
