| I think she means it as a compliment, but makes me so uncomfortable. |

My mom does the same. I don't think my mom means it as a compliment, though. She's anti-rich.
We're not rich but I suppose we're wealthier than she's seen personally throughout her life. I just ignore it. |
+1 My mom says the same and it's definitely not a compliment |
| Interesting. My mom also says it about neighborhoods l have friends in, and not as a compliment. She is sensitive enough not to say it about me, at least to my face. |
| I don't think me mom means it in a negative way, but I doubt she would refer to my sister that struggles as poor. |
| I think it is a jealousy thing. |
|
I think my mom says it as a pride type of thing. Like, look what a successful kid I produced.
However, in reality, I am successful and well off despite my upbringing. I knew I didn't want to be like her and my dad, so I worked my ass off to better myself and provide myself with the best educational opportunities. |

Tell her sternly .. Mom it's considered impolite to discuss money. And then add in, "and low class"
Btw, that is the a lesson she was told - her generation was told. |
| I don't think it is meant negatively, but I don't like it. |
| 99% of rich people on DCUM don’t think they are rich. Yes, they are. |
