I know I am super late trying to plan a vacation for the upcoming spring break, but, nonetheless, here I am. We are a family of 4 (two boys, ages 11 and 15). I'd like to go somewhere, even for just 4 nights (April 10-14 ideally, but flexible) Somewhere warm- I assume we'd fly somewhere as I don't think there is anything within driving distance that we'd want. And oh, something reasonably priced would be great! Everything seems so expensive, but I know that's my fault for waiting so long to book something. Is it possible to do this on somewhat of a budget? An all-inclusive resort would be ideal. Any suggestions? Thank you!

What do you consider reasonable? We need a budget. |
try something like costco or travel zoo. Be very flexible. But the answer is probably no. |
Sorry about you're so late to the game. Plus you gave us no budget.
Even getting flights will be difficult. Maybe you can drive down to Myrtle beach and stay a few rows back. |
Drive to HHI, I think you can find something, not super warm but nice
Other idea, San Antonio, not the typical destination, may have options |
Sorry! Maybe $4k - $5k.... |
You can get flights for under $300 each to Charleston from DCA. |
Depends on your kids ages and what you like to do ...
Drive to Asheville / Brevard / WNC mountains. Won't be very warm, but you can hike, eat and bop around small towns, visit the Biltmore etc. Savannah GA + Tybee Island (not a huge Tybee fan but I'm not much of a beach person) Charleston / Kiawah, although if your break is in April it's the beginning peak season and that's iffy Greenbrier or Homestead - sort of a Dirty Dancing vibe with lots of traditional resort activities Also maybe the Ritz at Lake Occonnee GA Orlando if you can get cheap air -- you can skip Disney and do SeaWorld, LegoLand, water parks etc. |
We tried to make reservations through a travel agent anywhere in Mexico and rooms were 3 times their regular price. A lot of it is because we wanted Easter week and we were booking only 6-7 weeks out but a lot of people want to travel right now.
Covid is an issue in W Europe now so that limited an option for us too. We are taking the train to NYC instead. |
You can fly to Puerto Rico for under $500 each on those dates and hotels are still available |
Check google flights. The cheapest I'm seeing is Miami at $282. Check to see if there's still car rentals available and then check airbnb and booking.com and you might find something. You may have to settle for a really simple hotel but hey, you could still get to the beach!
Oherwise, you are looking at $300+ and to me, that's not budget.... |
If you would be up for a cruise there are still some deals to be had. I thought about it but decided I’m too scared. I’ve had friends go on cruises and say they felt super safe with the Covid checks.
Please don’t lecture me DCUM! |
We went to Kiawah one spring break and stayed next to a golf course rather than on the sea. We got a mansion for the price of a small seaside condo and it was only a minute's bike ride to the beach. From there we visited Charleston and attended the women's tennis tournament at the Family Circle tennis stadium. |
Puerto Rico should be doable, but I don’t know about an all inclusive there. |
