In 2006, Centreville High School and Fair Oaks Classroom on the Mall students partnered together to collect dresses as a way to combine their interests in fashion with community service. I've been seeing many pop up on FB Market lately. Worth browsing.

One of my kids lucked into a great dress at a thrift shop.

The other one bought one of her prom dresses on Poshmark.

Online consignment is probably the most time-efficient way to look: poshmark, thredup, rent the runway, the realreal, even ebay.

OP, what size is your DD? I have two dresses, worn once or twice, and happy to give to you if either size works. I can set up a throwaway email if you want one of them.

That is generous! DD is petite. 5’1 and about 108.

Def thrift shops. Also, Nordstrom rack in Chevy Chase sometimes has a couple racks of fancy dresses that are deeply, deeply discounted. Secondi consignment just north of DuPont Circle. Fia’s Fabulous Finds on Upshur street in Petworth.

Montgomery county is doing a program called to “say yes to the dress”. That is where they get prom dress donations. I’m not sure when or how they’re opening for people to come and look/try on, so you may want to look into that on Montgomery County webpage.
