This tax was created specifically to provide paid family leave. How in the world could Bowser redistribute the excess funds to other programs? And instead of cutting the tax for businesses, why couldn’t the fund be matched to follow DC FMLA (e.g. 22 weeks of paid leave for vaginal births, 24 for c-sections, 16 weeks for other FMLA reasons)?

I am a nanny employer and honestly find this ridiculous - not just because the money has been earmarked for family leave but also because the paid family leave act puts an additional burden on employers in terms of filing, etc (and fines for missing filings). If you are going to take the money and put it in some general fund then stop making employers jump through additional administrative hoops.

Because taxpayers are not paying 5.5 months for you take off for paid leave? And FMLA is not guaranteed pay for 5 months either so FO.

What are you raging about? Taxpayers do not fund paid leave in DC.
