| A colleagues son transferred from Tufts to UVA. I don’t know if that’s ‘down’ given trh usnews rankings. The son didn’t like the vibe of Tufts and coursework was challenging. At UVA he said the coursework was easier and also didn’t love the vibe in a different way, he said it was like high school, but it was more familiar to him, he finished and graduated. |

| If it's because you realize the 2nd school is a better fit, it tends to be a relief. If you are transferring because you can't afford the first school or weren't doing well academically at the first school, it can be tough. Dig deep, focus on the degree! |

| it means you realized that prestige doesn't matter and your kid will be happier and less stressed and start enjoying life. Clearly you are worried about it and they are not and that is why they want to leave the "prestige" school. It isn't about you, it is about them and their choices. |

| You go where the program you are looking for is. If you want to be an engineering major, you might be better off at a "lesser" school than at Amherst or Williams. |
