There’s a letter from the magnet office coming in the mail today. How do they notify you of getting in after the initial lottery? Or is this just some kind of follow-up communication?
|
I believe they usually contact by email for the test-in magnets. Did you enter the middle school magnet consortium lottery (Argyle, Parkland, Loiederman)? It might be a notification about the second round for that -- I remember getting that notice last year about this time (and wondering whether it was a test-in magnet notification when I saw it in the USPS informed delivery). |
| We got our second round invite to TPMS via email last year.. on March 26th. |
Letter in the mail usually means the child is not selected again in the lottery. |
| FYI, PP was correct, the letter we got yesterday was saying that DC was selected in the 2nd round lottery for a school (Loiederman) in the magnet consortium. |
Congratulations! I wonder if there are any parents who are successful in their appeal. Please share your experience. |
| It will be helpful to hear from someone who got selected in the second round |
| Does this mean eastern second round letters already went out too? |
Different process. |
NP here, but there's no appeal involved in the middle school magnet consortium (Loiederman, Parkland, Argyle) process. It's completely separate from the humanities and math/science magnet processes. |
| Is there a way to know how many got in during 2nd round lottery? Does MCPS publish any data on lottery? |
MCPS is not publishing data on the lottery, and have thus far refused to release the numbers of students that are in each wait pool. The process and the reporting are so different than is was pre-covid. We asked, and we know several others, who have asked to get an idea of the size of the wait pools, but they said they are not disclosing that info this year. |
For the Humanities Magnet and Math/Science Magnet |
I wonder why they aren’t releasing the data.....corruption much? |
Awesome! My DC will be there! |
