We are in nyc and I am going to splurge and get Broadway tickets for tomorrow for my 3 kids. Which show would be fun and age appropriate and engaging for my kids. I have 11 year old boy, 9 and 6 year old girl. 11 and 6 year old have a hard time sitting still unless it’s something that really interests them. Here are the show options
Lion king Aladdin Wicked Chicago Hamilton Thank you! |
| Probably lion king. There’s a reason it’s been around forever. Six year old may be young for wicked and Hamilton. |
| Lion King |
| Just took my kids the same ages to see Lion King, they absolutely loved it. Get a seat on the end near the aisle as they come down the aisle a few times and it’s awesome to see costumes up close. Have fun! |
| Another vote for lion king — great show, great for those ages. |

I would do LK as well for a first show for those ages. My 6yos loved Hamilton but they knew the music ahead of time and knew what to expect. Aladdin is another good choice, but it’s not as magical and captivating as Lion King. Just a heads up that LK does have some scary moments.
I have 3 kids the same ages (but GGB in order) and we live in nyc so we see a lot of shows. Lion King was my youngest’s first show last fall since he hadn’t seen anything pre COVID. |
| I wouldn’t do Wicked or Chicago for those ages. Hamilton is a toss up. My kids love shows but wouldn’t have loved that at your kids ages. We recently saw Mrs. Doubtfire and that was also excellent and good for your kids’ ages. Agree that Lion King is magical. |
| Aladdin or Lion King for those ages. My kids loved Aladdin when they were similar ages! |
| Lion King. I've seen them all and would say definitely lion King. |
| Definitely not Chicago. I loved Wicked and Hamilton, but I think two of your kids are too young for it. Lion King and Aladdin are both great options. I remember mine being blown away by the magic carpet illusion. |
| Depending on your kid the 11 year old boy may be "too cool" for Alladin. Other kids would love that or Lion King. |
+1 -- also seen them all, and also vote for LK. (Aladdin is fun for kids too.) |
|
Lion King! Aladdin would be my second choice.
Not Chicago! |
Yes this. And I would not take a 6 year old to any of your other choices. |
| I'm considering taking my 11-year-old to Mr. Saturday Night with Billy Crystal because he loves SNL. |
