iui without the insemination

Anonymous
i’m 39 with dor. normal hsg and semen analysis. i just failed my first iui with clomid/ovidrel. for my next cycle the insemination will likely fall during Ramadan, and we’re muslim so dh won’t be able to give a sample during the day. do you think it’s worth it to do the clomid and monitoring and then just have intercourse at night for a few days after the trigger? how much do you really think is gained by washing and concentrating and injecting the sperm?

If I'm reading your post right, the IUIs are for unexplained infertility, not male factor, right? In that case, if you can afford the drugs/monitoring without too much stress, I would totally do a medicated cycle with timed intercourse for Ramadan and then get back to IUIs after if that doesn't work. If the reasons for IUIs in known male factor, I would just wait.

You can also use frozen sperm.

Id probably just do ti and wait a month for iui.

How early is your clinic open? I think mine opened at 6am. Could he provide a sample before sunrise? (not sure how early Ramadan fasting starts?)

Agreed. My re initially only suggested TI due to my pcos and we only switched to iui as we were unsure if my husband's medicine may impact sperm but all the sperm analysis were normal.

I’d just wait a month and schedule IUI when Ramadan is over.

There’s a condom like thing they use for people who don’t want to provide a sample in an office. He would wear it during intercourse and then bring the sample in. No idea the timing of how long he would have to drop off the sample but it could be worth inquiring about. I know how hard it is to just wait a month when it already feels like you’ve waited so long!
